Job Description:
Overview The Kemin Animal Nutrition and Health – North America (KANA) marketing department is seeking a Project Manager. As a member of the team responsible for the marketing and management of feed ingredients manufactured for the beef, dairy, poultry, swine, and equine industries, this position requires a person with strong project management skills to implement strategic projects that support KANA’s business needs. The core responsibility of this position is to manage multiple dynamic and strategic projects across many functional areas, ensuring on-time execution that supports the growth of our animal feed ingredient business. The position provides an opportunity to work in a team environment, to interact and develop best practices as well as improve business processes. What you’ll do: - Execute key strategic projects in line with business needs to support the growth of our animal feed ingredient business, including but not limited to product development, process improvements and strategic planning. - Manage project scope, identify work breakdown structure, budget, goals, roles, responsibilities, and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders. - Work collaboratively with a diverse team on job-related duties, working on cross-organizational and departmental (such as Regulatory, R&D, Marketing, Sales,) strategies to support business efforts. - Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel. - Create project plans (GANTT charts) that ensure task and prioritization and manages project dependencies and critical path. - Proactively manage changes in project scope, identifies potential crises, and devises contingency plans. - Conduct meetings with project teams and ensure follow-up actions are identified. This includes meeting documentation and ensuring proper follow-up on identified actions. - Set and continually manage project expectations with team members and other stakeholders. - Develop and deliver engaging, informative, well-organized progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation and presentations. - Accurately present findings in an appropriate and timely manner to allow the management team to make critical decisions based on key data.
Experience Required:
What we require of you: - Bachelor’s degree in a related field - 3+ years of direct work experience as a project manager (preferably in manufacturing or product development) that includes all aspects of project planning and execution involving team members in multiple locations. PMP Certification desired. - Advanced experience Microsoft Excel, Word, and Project or other project planning software - Microsoft SharePoint and Power BI experience strongly desired. - A high degree of personal motivation, a desire to make an immediate contribution, and possession of a distinct sense of urgency. - Experience in new product development within a scientific environment is preferred. - Experience working in independent and team-oriented environments. - Demonstrated ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities. - Ability to remain flexible during times of change and react to project adjustments and alterations promptly, efficiently and positively. - Ability to persuade, encourage, motivate, and read communication styles of team members. - Ability to elicit cooperation and defuse tension with colleagues and partners. - Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively under time constraints as necessary. - High attention to detail, high accuracy, and solid analytical abilities. - Excellent verbal, written and relationship skills used to interact with a diverse group of technical and non-technical people. - Demonstrated integrity and honesty in all aspects, and the ability to maintain confidentiality and protect intellectual property - Travel: approximately 10%
